Internship | Space Systems Engineering Standardization Internship Project

    About this position

Systems engineering is a key discipline in the development of space systems, but the tools and processes used by engineers can vary widely across projects. This internship focuses on improving consistency and efficiency by helping the space department streamline and standardize its systems engineering practices. You'll work closely with engineers, explore current workflows, and contribute to tools and guidelines that will support future missions.

    What will be your role?

Your role will be to support the systems engineers in the space department by identifying opportunities to improve how we work.

You'll start by speaking with system engineers across different projects to learn how we work and what approaches and tools we use. Then, you will compare these with existing procedures, internal guidelines, and industry standards such as the SE handbook and INCOSE.

Based on your findings, you'll help develop or update standardized tools, templates, and processes. You'll also create instructional materials and conduct teaching sessions to support adoption.

Finally, you'll present your results to the department. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to improvements that will be used for years to come!

    What we expect from you

    • You are at the end of your bachelor's or the beginning of your master's studies in a technical field.
    • You have theoretical knowledge of systems engineering tools and processes.
    • You are proficient in Excel, Word, and other standard office tools.
    • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or artificial intelligence is a plus, but not required.

    What you'll get in return

You want an internship opportunity on the precursor of your career; an internship gives you an opportunity to take a good look at your prospective future employer. TNO goes a step further. • A free membership of Jong TNO , where you can meet other TNO professionals and join several activities , such as sports activities, (work-related) courses or the yearly ski-trip.
    • Use of a laptop.
    • An allowance for travel expenses in case you don't receive an OV-card.
