Smals is looking for a Project Engineer for building materials

As a Project Engineer - Building Materials, you are responsible for optimizing our current sites in the northern Netherlands (roughly above Arnhem) and just across the border in Germany. You will supervise staff involved in various projects, monitor financial and operational progress, and maintain contact with our partners and subcontractors throughout the project. You fulfill a dual role: acting as a technical advisor and as a member of the local operational project team at both existing extraction sites and the development of potential new projects.

Within projects, you help monitor operational progress (KPIs) and work on project preparation in dredging/extraction plans. Additionally, you focus on improving efficiency in production and/or resource extraction. Your responsibilities include planning, procurement, cost monitoring, technical assessment, communication, coordination of improvement projects, and new construction at both existing and new sites. The ability to read and analyze survey and drilling data and knowledge of PDS dredging software is a plus.

This position reports directly to the Production Manager.

What do you bring?

A completed MBO qualification with relevant work experience or a completed HBO degree (Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering)

+

Knowledge of and experience with (common) project management methods

+

Some experience in project supervision

+

Knowledge of or experience with geology and soil science (or willingness to develop it) is a major plus

+

Knowledge of or experience with PDS dredging software and AutoCAD is a plus

+

Kennis van waterbouwkundige- en baggerprojecten

+

Knowledge of producing building materials is a plus

+

Proficiency in Dutch and German (spoken and written)

+

Practical mindset and analytical skills

+

Possession of a VCA-VOL certificate (or willingness to obtain) and a valid driving license

We offer a full-time position (32 hours/week is negotiable) with prospects for a permanent contract and a competitive salary.
