About the job
T he Nouryon Packaging Technology Group drives packaging innovation and operational excellence across the organization-shaping packaging standards, ensuring safety compliance, and continuously improving our processes.
As a Packaging Technologist III, you will lead the development of our packaging improvement roadmap, introduce new packaging solutions across our manufacturing sites, and act as a key expert for packaging processes, transport equipment, and specifications. You will collaborate closely with Technology, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams, as well as many other internal and external stakeholders, to unlock new opportunities, enhance pack‑out solutions, and support strategic projects that elevate our packaging performance
In your future role as Packaging Technologist you will
- Develop, communicate, and maintain the strategic packaging roadmap and overall improvement plan.
- Act as licensor for all packaging items-including assigned transport equipment and reusable IBCs-with the ability to delegate within the team as needed.
- Lead, initiate, and drive improvement opportunities to address and resolve packaging‑related challenges.
- Support and initiate debottlenecking activities and problem‑solving for pack‑out equipment at manufacturing sites.
- Manage and maintain purchase specifications for all packaging materials.
- Serve as project manager for selected packaging‑related initiatives when requested.
- Act as gatekeeper and approver for SKU creation related to packaging items.
- Identify opportunities for packaging enhancements and innovation, address current packaging issues, and collaborate closely with business units, site teams, R&D, regional Integrated Supply Chain teams, and many other stakeholders to elevate packaging performance.
We believe you bring
- At least five years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong background in packaging materials and technologies for dangerous goods.
- Experience developing and executing testing protocols to evaluate packaging performance under varying conditions (e.g., temperature, pressure, impact).
- Proven project management capabilities and experience working in cross‑functional environments.
- University degree in a relevant field, or equivalent expertise gained through experience and specialized training.
- Formal packaging education such as OVK I and OVK II from NVC (Nederlands Verpakkingscentrum), or comparable qualifications.
- Solid knowledge of key regulations and guidelines (e.g., ADR, UN Orange Book, GHS Purple Book).
- Ability to provide solutions to complex challenges involving regulatory requirements and organizational needs.
- Familiarity with industry testing standards and procedures for packaging used in the chemical sector.
