Listen to the stories of everyone who walks along. You speak with three to four people in an evening. Each person has his or her own background and story.

Count that gain: we walk for over an hour, you take about 6,000 steps and you are in the fresh air. In addition, the walk brings conviviality and positivity.

A larger network and more knowledge of Leiden

If you participate in Walking & Talking, you will then walk through the city differently. Through the walks you get to know a lot of fellow citizens. You will also discover the city's hidden gems.

Jouw aanwezigheid levert veel dankbaarheid van Languageleerders op.

Zij zijn heel blij dat ze Nederlanders meeten. Dit geeft het vrijwilligerswerk betekenis; door jouw aanwezigheid maak je impact!

You choose the frequency yourself: you can participate every week, once every two weeks or every now and then.

Talking is in pairs: so you talk to one person at a time.

The walk is about 4 km and takes over an hour.

You talk about topics such as the weather, work and hobbies. But you can also talk about dreams and goals. And as a volunteer you will receive training from us.

In addition to participating in the group, you can also become a group leader. As a group leader, you also provide an introduction and closing. You also monitor the atmosphere, time and safety.

It is important that you pay attention to the other person, speak calmly and use simple language.

Language learners walk together with each other and with volunteers to practice Dutch. This also allows them to meet new people and feel more at home in their (new) city.

We walk from a fixed starting location, where the walk also ends. At the starting location, participants are divided into groups of 10-16 people. In a group you talk in pairs. This way you talk to different people.

Ja, Walking & Talking kent deelnemersvoorwaarden:

● The walk is for adults; children can not along.

● There is no smoking during the walk.

● You are responsible for your own safety while walking.

● Dogs are not allowed on the walk.

Walking & Talking is for two target groups:

1) adults learning Dutch (from A1)

2) fellow citizens who would like to help others with the language

Practice je spreekvaardigheid bij Walking & Talking. Je spreekt met andere taalleerders en vrijwilligers. Het maakt niet uit hoe lang je in Nederland woont. Iedereen die zijn taal wil verbeteren is welkom.

Do you want to help others with the language?

Geef je op als vrijwilliger. Je hoort bijzondere verhalen en je hoeft je not voor te bereiden.

We walk for about 75 minutes (1 hour and fifteen minutes).

At Walking & Talking we walk slowly, the walk is about 4 km.

Does the walk continue in the rain?

We are not made of sugar So we also walk when it rains. Just to be safe, bring an umbrella.

If it rains or storms very hard, we will cancel the walk. We communicate this via our WhatsApp Community.
