Are you a commercial professional with a passion for international cooperation? Do you get energy from working in a dynamic, capital-intensive market where no two days are the same? As an Offshore Account Manager, you will play a key role in strengthening our position in the international market for offshore soil investigation.

It's Monday morning. While enjoying your first cup of coffee, you start your week with a video call; a regular customer is working on a tender for a project that requires challenging soil investigation for the construction of a new offshore wind farm at greater water depths. You discuss their future wishes and challenges and immediately start thinking about possible solutions. Later in the day, you have your colleagues in Engineering and Work Preparation translate their needs into a technical proposal and incorporate this into a convincing quotation.

Halfway through the week, you board a plane to the Emirates to visit several existing and potential customers. Based on the discussions, you gain an insight into current projects, regional market developments (opportunities and risks) and ways to build and/or strengthen cooperation. Back at the office, you will maintain close contact with the customers you visited.

During the trip, you will be in frequent contact with the home base in Heerenveen in The Netherlands: you will coordinate with the Service Coordinator on how to quickly and effectively respond to customer queries, share new market insights with the Commercial Director, and collaborate with your marketing colleagues on an international trade fair that could be of interest to your market opportunities.

No day is the same - you will be constantly switching between sales, ongoing projects and relationship management. You will be the link between our customers, distribution partners and the organisation, and will play a key role in strengthening our position in the offshore market.

Where will you be working?

We are , an innovative family business based in Heerenveen, the Netherlands, that designs, builds and supplies CPT equipment for onshore, offshore and nearshore soil investigation. Our customers are spread all over the world. We are continuously working on innovations in the field of CPT equipment. The equipment, instruments, software, etc. are completely developed and made in-house. Our company consists of about 70 employees and the company culture is characterized by: pride in your work, respect for each other, working together and continuing to learn and adapt. We are growing in various areas. We don't do crazy things, but we are far from standing still. Not in our products, but not in our operations either.

About your role

Our (potential) customers in the offshore segment are mainly active in soil investigation for foundations for oil and gas installations and wind farms (the turbines and cable routes). However, it can also involve foundation research for ports, waterways or dredging projects.

The Offshore Account Manager is the permanent point of contact for a compact but strategically important customer base and builds lasting relationships with customers and a network of sales partners.

You proactively recruit new customers and partners and maintain existing relationships with attention and continuity. You understand what drives customers - their challenges, goals and ambitions - and translate these into appropriate technological solutions. In doing so, you ensure clear quotations, smooth order processing and service that exceeds expectations.

You are responsible for formulating and achieving sales targets within the offshore market. In addition, you stay well informed of developments, customer wishes and new opportunities in the sector. With your market insight and collaborative approach, you contribute to the further growth of our offshore activities. Naturally, you will represent the customer within the organisation and monitor their satisfaction, but you will also keep an eye on the (business) interests of the organisation.

In short: you connect commercial opportunities with customer-oriented solutions and help further build on its strong international reputation.

What do we require from you

We are looking for an Account Manager who connects - with customers, colleagues and the market. Someone who combines business acumen with curiosity and persuasiveness.

  • A completed higher professional education degree, for example in Commercial Economics, Marketing or (Technical) Business Administration;
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a commercial position, preferably in a technical environment;
  • Experience in the offshore industry is an advantage;
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
  • Knowledge of capital goods and international trade conditions;
  • Strong communication and promotional skills.

As a person, you are customer-oriented, environmentally aware, proactive and analytical. You think in terms of opportunities and anticipate opportunities, you take initiative and you know how to achieve the right results for both the customer and the company with a solution-oriented attitude.

Who do you work with and for?

You will be part of the commercial team and report directly to the Commercial Director. You will work closely with your fellow Onshore Account Manager, the Commercial Sales Assistant, the Marketing and Communications Specialist and the Service Coordinator.

You will also regularly collaborate with colleagues from other departments, from engineering to the planning office, to ensure that customer queries are dealt with quickly and professionally. Outside the organisation, you will maintain close contact with international customers and sales partners around the world.
