Join a global leader in maritime classification and certification

Your career is about more than building a CV - it's a chance to LeaveYourMark.

Joining Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore means becoming part of a world-leading organization in maritime classification and certification.

For nearly two centuries, we have been supporting innovation and transformation across the maritime and offshore sectors, ensuring the safety, performance, and sustainability of ships and offshore infrastructures worldwide.

Our mission? To contribute to a safer and more sustainable maritime world, by providing our technical expertise and commitment to our clients and partners.

Discover an internship at the heart of offshore expertise: would you like to apply your skills in modelling, structural analysis, and mechanical computation within a highly technical and international environment?

Join us, within the Offshore Design Evaluation Department, and contribute to the optimization of structural analysis methods applied to offshore units.

Your main missions

As part of the classification of offshore units, numerous structural analyses are carried out using our internal tools (Mars, Steel, VeriSTAR Hull) according to NR445 rules.

The internship will focus on two complementary topics:

1. Load case selection for offshore FEM analyses

Regulations require a large number of load cases to be considered in 3-hull FEM analyses. The objective will be to identify and validate an optimized selection methodology to reduce the number of required combinations while ensuring the reliability of the results.

Using a database of existing models, you will analyse relevant combinations, compare them with the traditional approach, and assess calculation differences in order to propose improvement recommendations.

2. Structural analyses of FPSO topsides

Topsides are generally made of tubular structures. According to BV rules, only primary structures are currently considered in strength verifications.

The study will consist in reassessing the influence of secondary structures on the global capacity of topsides using the NSO tool, and comparing these results with those obtained through the traditional approach.

The final objective will be to determine whether a regulatory evolution should be considered, in collaboration with the Rules Department.

Your results will directly contribute to improving Bureau Veritas' internal methodologies and strengthening the reliability of offshore structure assessments.

Your strengths to succeed

  • You are in the final year of an engineering degree (or equivalent) with a specialization in structural mechanics or offshore engineering;
  • Strong skills in beam theory and finite element analysis (FEM);
  • Proficient in Excel/VBA and office tools;
  • Knowledge of Bureau Veritas rules or classification standards would be an advantage;
  • A good level of English, both written and spoken, to operate in an international environment and handle technical documentation;
  • Rigorous, analytical, curious, and a strong team player.

Why join Bureau Veritas?

By joining Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, you will take part in varied, enriching, and stimulating international projects.
