About Levenslust Academie

Levenslust Academie is a social-artistic adventure organized by Pluspunt and Art Space for Rotterdam residents who are distanced from the labor market. Levenslust Academie 2.0 builds on the success of the first edition (2023-2024). For this second phase, we are still looking for students to form an ARTSQUAD together with artists and experienced artists.

During the first six-month period, each ARTSQUAD will supervise a series of creative sessions focused on encounter, collaboration, and reciprocity. In these sessions, the ARTSQUADS will work with around fifty participants from Pluspunt and CVD, sharing their creative and expressive skills. The creative sessions are therefore more than just ordinary workshops: the focus is on reciprocity, learning from and strengthening each other, both individually and collectively. This has an impact on Pluspunt, Space, the artists, the care sector, and Rotterdam society in general. The ultimate goal is to develop a fully inclusive education and cultural center and to form an art community in which the distinction between so-called insiders and outsiders no longer exists.

The first period will conclude with the results of the creative sessions during the multi-day multidisciplinary art festival at on June 5, 6, and 7. The entire project will run until October 2027. We are still looking for students for the first period.

Who are we looking for?

4 students (e.g., social work, art, leisure management, and similar)

Practical information:

Period 1: January 12 through June 7, 2026

Structure:

January: 15 creative sessions (45 hours total)

(3 hours per week - 2 hours creative session + 1 hour preparation, keeping a logbook, etc.)

May: working toward the festival presentation (15 hours total)

June: multi-day festival

Frequency: weekly creative session 3 hours/week, followed by 15 hours of festival preparation

Kick-off: December 2, 2025, at , Rotterdam

Duration of creative sessions: Period 1 - weeks 3 to 17

Conclusion: festival on June 5, 6, 7, 2026 at , Rotterdam

Creation session locations: 2x Pluspunt locations, 2x CVD locations, in Rotterdam

Who are the participants?

The Levenslust Academie is intended for vulnerable adults in Rotterdam, people in social shelters, protected housing, day care, or social housing. They voluntarily participate in this art and culture program to develop themselves through creative expression, share their stories, and (re)shape their place in society.

What will you be doing?

As ARTSQUAD, you will guide a group of participants through a series of creative sessions that you design yourselves over a period of 15 weeks. You will work towards a joint presentation during the Levenslust Festival in June.
