The mission of DuFor: Creating a sustainable world in which fewer fossil resources are needed. Therefore, we are constantly improving our product portfolio by creating polyesters that are designed for recycling.

The focus areas for this internship are:

• PTFE is currently used for low-friction applications, but it is under scrutiny due to its

  chemical inertness and its known disadvantages. At DuFor, we are developing polyester

  specialities to replace these materials with fully recyclable, PTFE-free alternatives.

• Disposable packaging films are currently difficult to recycle.

  You will help to develop a material for recyclable trays and films that will

  enhance their mechanical properties and recyclability.

During this internship you will:

• Set up and perform experiments on a twin screw extruder
• Set up and perform experiments on a SSP (Solid State Polycondensation) unit
• Analyze and report findings, observations and recommendations for future experiments
• Set up methodology for rheological, tribological and wear analysis.

Techniques and methods:

• Melt Flow Rate (Viscosity)
• DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry)
• TGA (ThermoGravimetric Analysis)
• Twin Screw Extrusion, Compounding
• SSP (Solid State Polycondensation)
• Rheological and tribological analysis

Your profile:

• HBO Chemistry - Major in organic/ polymer chemistry and/or (circular) plastics
• Creative
• Persistant
• Incisive
• Analytical
