About Us
QuantWare is the world's leading manufacturer of superconducting quantum hardware. As a hyper-growth scale-up with a global customer base, our mission is to accelerate the advent of the quantum computer. We push the boundaries of what's possible in our field. We work on making the world's largest quantum processors as fast as possible.
At QuantWare, we're not just producing quantum hardware for the hyperscalers of tomorrow; we're working on technology that will change the world. To make that ambition a reality, we need exceptional people who drive real impact. That's where you come in.
As a Mechanical Engineer for Quantum Hardware , your mission is critical: to design, validate, and build the precision mechanical architecture of our next-generation superconducting Quantum Processors. You will develop critical hardware components - including packaging, magnetic shielding, and sample holders - that allow us to modularly scale our systems to utility-scale.
This role requires a blend of high-precision design expertise, awareness of thermal, magnetic and light-tightness requirements, and a hands-on, problem-solving approach. You will work with some of the smartest and most passionate people in the field, designing packaging that houses our quantum chips in state-of-the-art labs around the world.
What you'll be doing
-
Precision Mechanical Design: Own the end-to-end design, modeling, and drafting (CAD) for critical components such as sample holders, magnetic shielding, brackets, and large-scale modular packaging.
-
Thermal & Structural Analysis: Conduct advanced heat load simulations and structural analyses to minimize thermal impact on quantum devices. You will proactively mitigate Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) mismatch risks across materials operating between room temperature and millikelvin environments.
-
Prototyping & Manufacturing: drive the prototyping process from concept to reality. This includes utilizing internal capabilities (3D printing, CNC machining) and selecting/managing external suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of custom parts.
-
Assembly & Integration: Construct and validate complex test set-ups. Execute the precise installation of quantum hardware into cryostats, ensuring optimal performance within cryogenic environments.
-
Collaboration & Requirements: Work closely with design and measurement teams to translate product requirements (e.g., form factor, high-density integration) into practical, manufacturable designs.
-
Tooling & Documentation: Design, build, and maintain essential R&D test fixtures and tooling. Document designs and best practices to support knowledge transfer and future scaling.
Your profile
You don't need to tick every box, but if most of these apply, we'd love to hear from you:
-
4+ years of experience in mechanical or hardware design, ideally in fields involving large temperature gradients, magnetic shielding, EM radiation protection, and/or thermalisation challenges, with a proven track record of high-quality, manufacturable designs.
-
Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
-
Experience with prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and/or CNC machining.
-
A proactive approach to design: collecting requirements, sharing sketches and prototypes for feedback, and involving the right stakeholders throughout the process.
-
Experience with design of radiofrequency systems and / or PCBs is a strong plus.
-
Fluency in English.
What We Offer:
At QuantWare, you'll be part of a high-performing team of world-class experts in an ambitious, fast-moving environment. From day one, you'll have the trust, tools, and support to do your best work. Here's what you can expect:
Competitive salary - A competitive monthly salary, plus an 8% annual holiday bonus paid out each May
Pension that's built to last - A future-proof pension plan that includes partner and dependent coverage. QuantWare covers 63% of the premium
