Who are we?

At Den Breejen Shipyard, shipbuilding is in our blood. Established in 1947 and based in Hardinxveld-Giessendam since then, we have grown to become a major player in the inland shipping sector, both for newbuildings and for repairs and conversions. Our specialisation in the construction of river cruise vessels has earned us international recognition. We design, develop and build fully 'custom-built' vessels and are based in a modern facility with well-equipped premises (including fitting-out quays and dry docks) directly on the Merwede, one of the main waterways in the Netherlands. What are your duties?

Are you looking for a recognised training company for your BBL course in shipbuilding or metalworking? Our shipyard is always looking for new talent! As part of the team, you will be responsible for repairing/completing and building state-of-the-art inland waterway vessels. We focus on sustainability and build to the latest standards, which is recognised by the industry where our vessels have won awards. In addition, we are currently building the first hydrogen powered articulated tug and barge for inland navigation, unique in the industry! As a BBL apprentice, you will work in a variety of teams, develop your knowledge and skills, and if we both like what we see, we may offer you a contract to develop your skills after your apprenticeship.

Profile

• You are between the ages of 16 and 23;
• You have completed VMBO training;
• You have an interest in technology;
• Preferably have some basic knowledge of shipping / shipbuilding;
• You are eager to learn, enjoy working in a team and are open to the guidance of our practical instructors.
