Extruder/extrusion operator

Working in Volendam? For our extrusion department we are looking for a new colleague.

AVI is a plastics producer of flexible packaging and films. We blow/extrude film and print and convert the film into finished products. For our production team we are looking for an extruder operator to run our 11 extrusion lines.

We are looking for

• An education at MBO level 3 or LTS level C, possibly supplemented with a process operator certificate

• Preferably you have gained experience in a production environment, whether or not in packaging materials

• We supply high-quality products in a safe working environment, so you have knowledge of quality and safety standards

A typical working day

As an extruder operator at AVI no day is the same - every day you see different flexible packaging passing by on the machine. Still, if we summarise a working day, these are your core tasks:

Preparation of an order

• Reading order specifications and instructions

• Checking available materials/tools

Set-up

• Mixing granulate and connecting extruders to silos/containers

• Preparing the (mono or co-) extruders for operation based on the production order, machine settings and instructions

Extrusion process

• Monitoring the process on one or more extruders

• Removing rolls using a hoist

• Weighing, packing, labelling/marking and palletising rolls

• Filling in production data on production registration forms

Inspection

• Checking process parameters and assessing/measuring the products against the required specifications

Maintenance

• Resolving minor malfunctions and assisting the team leader or technician with major malfunctions

• Daily cleaning of the machine and workplace

• Weekly replacement (or having replaced) of parts and lubricating the machine

For the magazine and mailing industry, we produce special machine film. This film protects the mailing or magazine and allows multiple brochures to be bundled. Usually, the clear transparent LDPE film is chosen, but we also have various colored films in our range.

bags with adhesive strip

In addition to webshop bags and shipping envelopes, AVI Volendam also sells transparent bags with adhesive strip . These bags are usually made from LDPE and polypropylene materials such as CPP and OPP, but MDPE is also used. Because polypropylene bags are made of beautiful glossy materials, this type of bag is extremely suitable for display in stores.
