To further strengthen our scientific strategy and external positioning, BPRC is seeking a new member for its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

The Scientific Advisory Board

The SAB is an independent advisory body that supports the Director of BPRC with strategic scientific guidance. The Board advises on the institute's long-term scientific direction, research quality, ethical aspects, and opportunities for collaboration and funding. The SAB contributes to maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity and societal relevance.

The Board meets at least twice per year and operates in an interdisciplinary manner, reflecting both scientific depth and broader societal and ethical perspectives.

  • Ensuring attention to ethical standards, integrity and societal acceptance
  • Strengthening BPRC's visibility and reputation in both academia and the life sciences sector

Profile of the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an internationally recognised expert with:

  • Extensive experience in scientific research, evaluation, and strategic advisory roles
  • A broad interdisciplinary outlook beyond one's own field
  • A strong international network in science and/or industry
  • Expertise aligned with BPRC's current or future strategic priorities, such as: Infectious diseases and immunology; translational medicine; neurosciences; advanced in vitro model systems; data science; AI and bioinformatics; ethics, regulation and societal impact

In addition, we highly value candidates who understand the dynamics of the life sciences ecosystem and can advise on collaboration opportunities with biotech, pharma, and innovation partners.

Independence and Integrity

SAB members serve in an independent capacity and are required to declare potential conflicts of interest. Members adhere to confidentiality and to national and international codes of scientific integrity.

Appointment and Practical Information

Members are appointed for a term of three years, with the possibility of one renewal

The SAB consists of 5-7 members from complementary disciplines

Meetings take place 2-4 times per year, hybrid participation is possible

Members receive an attendance allowance and reimbursement of travel expenses

Interested?

If you are enthusiastic about contributing to the strategic development of BPRC and helping shape its position at the interface of biomedical science and life sciences innovation, we warmly invite you to express your interest.
