Secondment - Operations Officer (Debt)

This is a secondment opportunity from the 1st of June to the 15th of November.

Your role

This role is dedicated to the processing of Development Contributions, with close collaboration with the Impact team to ensure contracts, disbursements, and change requests are executed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Development Contribution Administration

  • Register new contracts, disbursements, and change requests in ACBS, received via K2 and GRIP.
  • Maintain complete and accurate transaction profiles for convertible grants.
  • Process payments and internal transfers in ACBS.

Impact Team Collaboration

  • Liaise with the Impact team on deadlines and requirements for contracts, disbursements, and change requests.
  • Provide operational input during deal structuring, assessing feasibility and recommending solutions.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on transaction monitoring alerts as defined in work instructions.

Operational Excellence

  • Critically review and approve new contracts and servicing transactions.
  • Independently interpret Development Contribution transactions.
  • Follow up on internal control reports related to Development Contributions.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders with inquiries.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to efficiency gains by proactively generating and implementing ideas at team level.
  • Support innovation by enabling product development and implementation of new structures.

  • Strengthen processes, internal controls, and systems to improve collaboration with the Impact team.

Objectives

  • Ensure timely and correct operations of Development Contribution transactions.
  • Preserve and improve quality, efficiency, and service delivery in Development Contribution administration.

  • Promote a service and customer-oriented approach across Operations and the broader organization.

  • Enable innovation and continuous improvement in cooperation with the Impact team.

Our offer

  • This six-month secondment (starting from the 1st of June) will give you a great opportunity to learn about FMO's end‑to‑end investment and Development Contribution (DC) processes.
  • You will gain hands‑on experience with the full lifecycle of DC transactions.

Your team

The Operations Debt team (15 colleagues) manages the administration of FMO's debt portfolios across Energy, Agri Food & Water, Financial Institutions, Special Operations, and Capacity Development. Operations is the linking pin between Investments, Risk, and Finance, ensuring reliable administration throughout the product lifecycle.

Your background

Core Competencies

  • Analytical skills: Ability to interpret Development Contribution contracts, disbursements, and change requests, and assess operational impact.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail: Ensures timely, correct, and complete registration of transactions in ACBS and related systems.

  • Process orientation: Strong focus on compliance with internal controls, monitoring alerts, and operational procedures.

  • Problem-solving mindset: Proactively identifies issues in Development Contribution processing and recommends practical solutions.

Technical Knowledge

  • Systems expertise: Proficiency in ACBS, K2, GRIP, and related operational tools.

  • Financial operations: Understanding of invoicing, payments, and transfers.
  • Internal control frameworks.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Impact team liaison: Ability to coordinate deadlines, requirements, and reporting with the Impact team.

  • Stakeholder management: Constructive cooperation with Front Office, Finance, and other stakeholders.

  • Clear communication: Provides operational advice and guidance to colleagues on transactions and processes.

  • Service orientation: Promotes a customer-focused approach within Operations and across FMO.
