Project Management Officer
- Project Office (EN)
- 32 to 40 hours
- €3494 - €4991
We are looking for a Project Management Officer (PMO) to join our Project Office team. Do you thrive in a pivotal role? Would you like to work for a great organisation and support colleagues with processes, products, projects and programmes? Do you also enjoy variety and would you like to get to know SURF from different departments? Then this is the job for you!
Where you will work
SURF is the ICT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research.
The team you will join
As a PMO, you will be part of the Project Office team within the Governance & Support department. This team works on project methodologies, standards and processes in the field of project management throughout the organisation. As a PMO, you will therefore work on projects across the entire organisation - from education to operations, services and innovation. You will use the tools provided by the team and contribute ideas for improvements.
Working at SURF means working for a unique and open organisation. This is evident in everything: the structure of the organisation, the set-up of the project teams, the culture in our offices and the atmosphere among colleagues. SURF offers excellent terms of employment and a flexible approach to work/life balance. Employees enjoy working independently. In addition, everyone is given the space and freedom to use and develop their talents as effectively and broadly as possible.
What you will do
As a PMO, you provide essential support to project leaders, programme managers and product managers. You learn about the content of services. This enables you to provide support and ensure that the administrative and organisational basis is in order. Your goal is to ensure that services or projects run smoothly. You are responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, coherence, documentation and reporting of projects and services in order to support the organisation. An example is the translation of an Excel project plan into a financial system. You will monitor the overview and act as the right hand and sparring partner of the programme, product or project manager. Your first place of work will be within the service department, supporting five services that facilitate education.
Other tasks you will handle
- You will set up and maintain project files and documentation; you will also assist in drawing up project plans. You will also organise meetings, take minutes of decisions and facilitate monitoring and reporting:
- You will collect progress information and prepare overviews; you will also maintain action and decision lists and prepare progress reports for stakeholders, provide practical support, assist with resource and capacity planning and prepare financial overviews.
- You give presentations and system training. In addition, you answer questions from educational institutions, investigate issues as necessary, and update documentation such as FAQs and manuals.
- You test new releases and work on communication, such as preparing updates for users.
Your skills and experience
- You have a good command of spoken and written Dutch and English;
- You have higher professional education (HBO) working and thinking level; you also have analytical skills;
- You are accurate and results-oriented; you also have good communication skills;
- You are able to learn quickly when it comes to working with new systems;
- You have an affinity with project and/or service support and financial systems; you are also enthusiastic about education.
It would be great if:
- You have experience with methodologies such as Prince-2 and Scrum/Agile;
- You have (basic) knowledge of IT systems, such as ticketing and processes.
SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
