Vacancy: Project Manager shipbuilding (40 hours a week)

Who are we?

At Den Breejen Shipyard, shipbuilding is in our blood. Founded in 1947 and located in Hardinxveld-Giessendam ever since, we have grown to become a key player in the inland shipping sector, both for new construction, repairs, and refits. Our specialization in the construction of river cruise ships has gained us international recognition. We design, develop, and build fully 'custom-built' vessels and are based in a modern facility with a well-equipped company site (including outfitting quays and dry docks) directly adjacent to the Merwede River, one of the main waterways in the Netherlands. What are your duties

As a shipbuilding project manager, you know inland shipping like the back of your hand, you are a real team player and you feel responsible for realising projects within the set quality requirements, budget and planning. You coordinate the accurate delivery of ships in close cooperation with the customer and our technical and purchasing departments. To achieve this, you are the linchpin, coordinating all relevant matters with the customer and ensuring flawless project execution. You chair the construction meetings and take care of the preparation, execution and follow-up of work that we outsource to our subcontractors and suppliers.

Duties and responsibilities

• You are responsible for delivering new construction projects / finishing and repair projects on schedule and within budget, based on the specifications agreed with the client;

• Initiating and leading construction meetings;

• Ensuring the preparation, execution and completion of outsourced work;

• Providing timely information for invoicing, including additional and less work;

• Informing and consulting with the operational manager about project progress.

Profile

• Minimum MBO working and thinking level, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture;

• Several years of experience in a similar position;

• You have strong communication skills and are stress-resistant;

• You are good at planning, organising and maintaining an overview;

• You are fluent in spoken and written Dutch and English; German is an advantage.
