System Architect Thermal Infrared Earth Observation Instruments | DELFT/Hybdrid
Contributing to space technology innovations that benefit our planet. Become a System Architect for Thermal Infrared Earth Observation Instruments in the department space systems engineering at TNO in Delft!
Emerging space-related technologies may hold the key to solving many of the societal challenges we face today. Encrypting communications, for example. Exploring the universe. As a System Architect Space Systems Engineering at the Netherlands' leading research organization, you can bring about profound change on our planet (and beyond). At TNO, we're always reaching for the stars, exploring further than what's considered possible. Based in Delft, you'll be part of an organisation that isn't out to make a profit but instead uses innovation to help mankind take its next giant leap forward, one innovative step at a time. And with this also stimulating the Dutch economy. We create breakthrough solutions for a healthier, safer, more sustainable and digital world, for challenging applications and demanding environments, together with our partners.
As a System Architect in the SSE group, you will lead the development of cutting-edge thermal infrared (TIR) instruments for Earth Observation missions. These instruments contribute to global challenges such as climate monitoring, air quality assessment, and sustainable land use. You will be the technical lead in multidisciplinary teams, guiding the conceptualization, design, and realization of space-qualified systems.
The space systems engineering department consists of 70 people. You will work also with experts in other departments as optics and opto-mechatronics. Your role spans from early-phase feasibility studies and system trade-offs to detailed design and manufacturing of (proto)flight models, and verification and calibration. You will also engage with external partners, including ESA, NASA, and various industrial and scientific parties in Europe, and contribute to strategic initiatives like ERP and SMO Earth Observations programs.
