About us

PLT is among the very largest theatre organisations in the country. We are a dynamic and successful organisation with 125 enthusiastic and expert staff in front of and behind the scenes. We bring theatre makers and audiences together in such a way that the magic of theatre can be fully experienced and a connection is created with the story of the performance or concert and with the people in the audience. It makes people leave richer.

We present our offer in no fewer than seven theatres in three theatres: Theater Heerlen, Toon Hermans Theater Sittard and Theater Kerkrade. The capacities of our halls vary between 140 and 1,500 seats. PLT is also one of the most highly rated theatre organisations in the Netherlands. We validate this by structurally surveying the satisfaction of our audiences and artists. We are proud partners of e.g. Het Laagland, philharmonie zuidnederland, Ad Mosam and leading festivals such as Cultura Nova, schrit_tmacher, Jazzout Fest and the Southern Blues Night. Every year, we programme over 700 professional performances and concerts, including a large number of unique productions that can only be seen in our halls.

PLT has a vacancy within the technology department (19 permanent employees), for an experienced all-round professional who has mastered the profession of theatre technology.

To further strengthen our team of theatre technicians, we are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious: Senior All-round Theatre Technician (30-36 hours).

Job content

• responsible for the actual realisation of performances
• independently setting up and operating lighting, video and sound equipment and technical theatre installations;
• independently operating the computer-controlled flywall;
• responsible for the correct suspension of materials and lighting at height;
• building and dismantling scenery
• advising on the purchase and replacement of technical theatre equipment;
• maintenance of technical stage installations;
• loading and unloading trucks;
• shares responsibility for ensuring compliance with working conditions regulations;
• participating in departmental meetings.

Expectations

• MBO+ working and thinking level with additional training;
• a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience as an all-round theatre technician
• Completed training in general lifting techniques and computer-controlled rigging is a plus;
• all-round theatre technician with extensive and broad experience and knowledge of lighting, video or sound technology;
• Knowledge of safety regulations regarding, among other things, hanging materials, working at heights, and the use of machines, equipment and tools;
• able to work both independently and as part of a team
• affinity with theatre is essential;
• service-oriented and hospitable attitude;
• willingness to take additional training courses.

Competences

• (technical) insight, understanding the consequences of actions;
• flexible (with regard to working hours, changes in assignments, diversity of tasks);
• creative (thinking up technical solutions that are safe and responsible);
• stress-resistant (acting adequately in ad hoc situations);
• good communication and social skills.

• a position in scale 5 of the CAO Nederlandse Podia, with grading dependent on experience, expertise and independence. (1-1-2026, scale 5 with a minimum of 5 yr experience at € .30053005,- to € 3,585,- gross p/month at 36 hours);
• irregularity allowance of usually 8% or 10% of the gross monthly salary, depending on the degree of irregularity;
• commuting allowance from the 1st km up to a maximum of 40 km one way;
• year-end bonus;
• an attractive pension scheme based on average salary, where the employer pays 70% of the premium;
• allowance for removal expenses in accordance with the removal expenses scheme of the CAO NL Podia;
