To strengthen our Global Technical Sales Specialist team, we are looking for a customer-focused, collaborative, and technically skilled Application Development Specialist with expertise in high-protein RTD and/or Medical Nutrition liquid applications . Your work will directly contribute to advancing nutritional solutions that support health and well-being across all life stages. You will be recognized and valued by our customers for your technical expertise and your ability to translate it into impactful, customer-relevant solutions.

Application Development Expert - Ready-to-Drink (RTD) & Medical Nutrition Liquids

What we ask

• Proven hands-on experience in developing high-protein RTD and/or Medical Nutrition (MN) liquid products , with strong theoretical understanding of formulation and processing.
• In-depth knowledge of dairy proteins and their behavior and interactions with other ingredients in liquid applications.
• Experience in building and executing knowledge roadmap, including collaboration with research experts and externals to build thorough product knowledge, including the ingredient-processing matrix .
• Strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented mindset .
• Excellent communication skills; customer-focused and able to act with speed and decisiveness.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams ; a team player who can also work independently.
• Experienced in reporting and usage of digital tools to share insights across teams.
• A Master- or PhD degree in Food Technology or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the field of protein-RTD/Medical Nutrition liquid product development, preferably in a B2B environment .
• Willingness to travel (internationally) to conferences, support customer projects and collaborate with regional teams or external partners.
• Strong motivation to integrate technical expertise with customer engagement.

Vacancy description

In this role, you will:

• Act as the global primary contact for RTD and Medical Nutrition liquid applications within FrieslandCampina Ingredients, with a strong focus on our protein portfolio.
• Translate customer needs into tailored, technically sound solutions.
• Develop and apply deep knowledge of high-protein RTD and complete MN liquid formulations, including the impact of recipe and processing on protein functionality.
• Stay informed about competitor activities and developments in the research landscape.
• Work hands-on in our Technolite application center - our dedicated space for co-development and application testing - with a team of colleagues to generate insights, support innovation, and contribute to customer-driven initiatives such as co-developments.
• Provide input for innovation and marketing strategies based on technical and customer insights.
• Share knowledge across teams, including Technical Sales and Application Development teams in regional offices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial teams, Product Development, Research and Quality teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and external partners.

This position is part of the Technical Sales Expert team within FrieslandCampina Ingredients, located in Wageningen. The team consists of Technical Sales Specialists (TSS) and Application Development Specialists and is embedded in the Global TSS organization and part of the Global FCI Development organization.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across our global TSS network, which includes regional teams and application centers worldwide. The environment is dynamic, international, and cross-functional, with strong connections to customers and internal stakeholders such as Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Research, and Quality and external network.
