role overview

The will lead the development of innovative hybrids optimized for High-tech greenhouse environments. This role focuses on key traits such as high yield, disease resistance, fruit quality, taste, shelf life, and adaptability to controlled conditions. The breeder will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver competitive varieties for protected markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement breeding strategies focused on protected cultivation markets.
• Select parents and manage crossing programs for competitive greenhouse-adapted hybrids.
• Enhance traits such as fruit firmness, shelf life, and disease resistance
• Utilize marker-assisted selection (MAS), speed breeding, and advanced phenotyping tools.
• Design, execute, and evaluate greenhouse and multi-location trials.
• Collaborate with product development, molecular breeding, pathology, and marketing and sales team
• Manage breeding databases, pedigrees, and ensure germplasm traceability.

Required Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or Plant Science.
• 3-5 years of experience in vegetable or breeding for protected cultivation.
• Strong knowledge of hybrid breeding, MAS, and trait introgression.
• Proficiency with breeding software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with disease resistance breeding.
• Knowledge of High-tech greenhouse production systems.
• Familiarity with genomic selection or speed breeding methods.
