Lobby and Advocacy lead

This is a paid position for 32-38 hours per week.

What will you do?

As Lobby and Advocacy Lead, you proactively and convincingly promote the organisation's objectives and the interests of the target group within national and international political and administrative arenas, with the aim of building an inclusive society for children and youth with disabilities in the Global South. You actively build relations with policy-makers and politicians. The role focuses on influencing policy both within the Netherlands, together with the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development (DCDD) and others, and in international bodies such as World Health Organization (WHO).

The Lobby and Advocacy Lead is part of the Programmes Department and reports directly to the Programmes .

Our Lobby and Advocacy policy is currently being evaluated. Should you become our new Lobby and Advocacy Lead, you are invited to contribute your ideas about the exact design of this position. Developing a new Lobby and Advocacy strategy is part of that.

Through your work, you will make an impact on the visibility and effectiveness of and contribute to improving the living conditions of children with disabilities worldwide.

Who are you and what do you bring?

• You are able to translate current developments and issues in the field of inclusion into a long-term perspective for the organisation.
• You are able to build and maintain a relevant network and know how to use it at strategic moments.
• You know how to show strong commitment and dedication, remain motivated in the face of setbacks.
• You actively collaborate with relevant colleagues within the organisation.
• You have experience and knowledge in the field of lobby and advocacy, preferably within the development sector.
• You are fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written, at C1/C2 level.
• You are willing to travel (occasionally) to our partner organisations in Africa and Asia and to international meetings and conferences.

You will receive a salary between €3,244 and €5,214 gross per month (based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week, excluding indexation as of 1 January 2026). You will be offered a one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract if both parties are satisfied.

Question 3 : Achieving results in lobby and advocacy often requires long-term effort. How do you structure your lobby and advocacy activities to remain results-oriented and stay motivated yourself? Can you give one or two examples from your own professional experience that required significant time and perseverance? What was the context, what was your role, what actions did you take to stay on course and work towards results, and what was the final outcome?
