Your role

How will you help power the Netherlands?

TenneT is growing rapidly to realize its strategic ambitions and plays a leading role in the energy transition. We are delivering multiple 2GW High Voltage DC (HVDC) Grid Connection Systems that will bring offshore wind power from the North Sea into the Dutch electricity grid up to 2031.

As a Technical Specialist Cable Installation , you contribute directly to these groundbreaking offshore projects. You support project teams with expert knowledge throughout all phases of the project. In addition, you are responsible for:

• Technical support during all project phases - Provide specialist expertise during initiation, tendering, execution, and maintenance for all offshore cable installation and cable protection matters.

• Industry knowledge & innovation - Stay up to date with offshore industry developments and represent TenneT in joint research initiatives (e.g., Joint Industry Projects).

• Building strong networks - Maintain internal and external professional networks to stimulate collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

• Lessons learned & continuous improvement - Actively gather insights from past projects to improve standards and processes across the 2GW program.

• Standards & requirements - Write, update, and maintain offshore cable installation and protection requirements together with specialists across the organisation.

You will join the Cable Engineering team, part of the Large Projects Offshore Netherlands unit, working with a group of highly skilled specialists dedicated to safe, innovative, and future-proof offshore grid development. Collaboration, expertise, and continuous improvement define our team culture.

Your profile & background

At TenneT, we look for professionals who help shape the future of our electricity grid. You combine strong analytical capabilities with hands-on offshore insight and a proactive mindset.

What do you bring?

• Academic working and thinking level with a Bachelor or Master's degree in Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering , or a comparable field.

• Hands-on offshore installation experience is a strong advantage.

• Experience with Orcaflex or similar FEM analysis software is a plus.

• Affinity or experience with offshore asset security is preferred.

• You are independent, proactive, and able to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to reflect on personal strengths and development areas.

• Fluent in English , both spoken and written. Dutch proficiency at B1 level is considered an advantage.

We offer you:

• A undetemined contract or year contract with the possibility of extension based on 40 hours per week
• A salary in scale 9: € 4675 to € 9196 per month with 8% holiday allowance and 6% year-end bonus. Job grading is based on education, experience, knowledge and internal equity
• A solid pension via ABP: we pay 70% of your premium.
• 43 vacation days per year.

  With a signed employment contract in hand, there's one final step to take: the pre-employment screening. TenneT has a societal responsibility to keep the Netherlands powered 24/7. We must minimize the risks of disruptions as much as possible. Therefore, we require every employee to provide at least a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). If there are no objections to your appointment, nothing will stand in the way of your start. For certain positions, a VOG is not sufficient, and a more detailed screening will follow.
