Summer internship 2026

We review applications on a rolling basis. The first round is a review by the summer internship admissions team. The second round is an interview with the department team you applied to. Depending on the team (size, tasks, etc.) there might be a third round (which you will be informed of in a timely manner).

Am I eligible for the summer internship program?

The summer internship program is designed for students who are in the second year of their Bachelor's or higher. You are eligible for the summer internship program if you are enrolled in a university program at least on the first day of your internship.

Can I still apply if my study is not finance-related?

Yes. Diversity makes us stronger. A specific study is not a prerequisite to apply for the summer internship program. This summer internship provides you with the best start of your career, regardless of your academic background. Robeco looks for smart, creative minds in all kinds of academic fields. However, we do require you to have an affinity with investing.

Can I still apply if I don't study in the Netherlands?

Our interns must be eligible for a residence permit to do an internship in the Netherlands. This means we can recruit EU citizens studying at a global university or non-EU citizens studying at a Dutch university.

When does the summer internship program begin?

This program is an 8-10 week internship that starts at the end of June or beginning of July. Together with the other interns you will start with a couple of days of introduction to Robeco. After the introduction, you will join the department you are hired by.

What does the internship program look like?

We'll give you a hands-on learning experience at Robeco. First, we'll provide an introduction to Robeco and then some training. After that, you'll take part in the day-to-day activities of the department you've been hired by. You will also participate in social activities, meet with senior management, and connect with people outside of your department to build your network.

What kind of work will I do?

Your work could consist of one larger research project, several smaller assignments, or helping with day-to-day tasks. For examples of how you could contribute during your internship, please refer to the testimonials of the previous intern classes.

Is the summer internship program suitable for a master's thesis?

No, the duration of the summer internship is too short to conduct a Master thesis.

What kind of experience do my Robeco supervisors have?

You will be supervised by experienced professionals such as analysts or portfolio managers working in the same team. Some have PhDs, are CFA charter holders or have decades of hands-on experience in financial markets.

Can I continue investing for my personal account during my internship?

You can continue investing for your personal account as long as you comply with Robeco's Private Transaction policy. You will be instructed on this during your introduction training.

What kind of compensation will I receive?

Robeco offers a market conform internship salary and an allowance to facilitate housing in Rotterdam.
