The Haagse Kunstkring seeks a chairperson for the Music Department

For the Music Department of the Haagse Kunstkring, we are looking for a chairperson with a heart for music and an eye for talent. You will connect musicians, composers and creators, from classical to modern. You will give direction to the program and stimulate new initiatives. You will build a strong, open and forward-looking department. A role with space, influence and real impact within an active artist association.

Volunteer position

We are seeking a chairperson for the Music Department of the Haagse Kunstkring .

Are you someone with a heart for music and an eye for talent. Do you feel at home among performing musicians, composers and creators. From classical to modern. Then this is a role with space, influence and freedom.

What will you do.

You supervise the Music Department and work with the members to create a substantively strong and current program. You stimulate initiatives from within and connect them to what is going on in the city, nationally and where relevant internationally. You attract young musicians and composers and actively build a new generation of members.

You will ensure that within the department there is space for diverse musical ideas and practices. Performing musicians and composers are given the opportunity to develop and present their plans. You create an open working environment, where initiative is encouraged and members reinforce each other in terms of content.

You maintain contact with musicians, composers and partners. You think about concerts, master classes, presentations and crossovers. You actively seek collaboration with other departments, Visual Arts, Design and Architecture, Literature, Drama and Film, within the Kunstkring. You see opportunities and convert them into concrete plans.

You will arrange grants where necessary and help think about funding for projects and concerts.

Who are we looking for.

You have an affinity for music and preferably a network in the music world. You are open to different styles and generations. You speak and write good Dutch and English. Our music members are international, so English is necessary.

What we offer.

This is a volunteer position. You will fulfill an independent board role within an artists' association with a rich history since 1891, which is constantly renewing itself and is at the center of The Hague's current cultural life.

You will have a lot of freedom to add your own touches.

You will work within an engaged network of visual artists, writers, architects, designers and musicians, composers, poets , filmmakers, performance artists and actors.

There is room to develop new initiatives and further strengthen and grow the Music Department.
