Responsibilities:

As Vice-Chair/Secretary, you are a key figure within PNN. You:

• Supports the chair and participates with them in national consultations and discussions with, among others, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, UNL and NWO
• Manages PNN's internal communications (including general mail and minutes of board and general member meetings)
• Coordinates ongoing projects and supports board members in their portfolios, with the opportunity to collaborate on projects. Examples include further professionalizing the organization, conducting a survey among international PhD candidates, organizing the members' day, or conducting short-term research on PhD performance.
• Acts as a connecting force within the board and towards external partners
• Maintains an overview of current developments regarding PhDs in the Netherlands and identifies opportunities and points of interest

What do we expect from you?

• You are a PhD candidate at a Dutch university or UMC
• You enjoy working together, but are also able to act proactively and independently.
• You have vision and drive when it comes to the Dutch academy and can translate that into policy.
• You are willing to dedicate an average of 16-20 hours per week to PNN for at least one year. If you have busy research or teaching periods, this time can be adjusted in consultation; your dissertation always takes precedence.
• You enjoy thinking about and committing to issues such as social safety and the position of various PhDs in Dutch academia.
• Because we often work with parties where Dutch is the working language, a good command of spoken and written Dutch is required for this position.
