What can you expect

The Main Kitchen is responsible for the preparation of dishes and products for other departments in F&B such as: Le Camelia, Room service, Lobby Bar and Banquet Operations. The Banquet Operations department is the largest in scale out of all 5 star hotels in the Netherlands, whilst also being a market leader in quality and profitability. Preparation of dishes in the Main Kitchen elicits working at a very high level.

As Breakfast Chef you are responsible for preparing breakfast dishes, performing mise en place activities, keeping the kitchen clean and developing new items on the menu. The breakfast team is also responsible for manning the live cooking stations in our breakfast restaurant. Your main tasks will be:

• Preparation of dishes according to standards, recipes and planning;
• Ensuring and maintaining the end product quality;
• Working in line with the standards set by The Leading Hotels of the World;
• Advise guests with their breakfast choices;
• Being involved in guest contact;
• Decide whether the quality, freshness and shelf life of ingredients is to standard;
• Ensuring good quality, taste, texture and colour of food items and making adjustments when necessary;
• Keep hygiene standards in line;
• Cost control;
• Receive, check and store the incoming inventory.

Don't worry you will not be working alone. Besides working in your own team, you will also work with other departments in the hotel. Work is carried out in shifts throughout a 7-day workweek. You will work 5 days per week, 7.6 hours a day.

What do we offer?

• Contract: 1 year, with the possibility of extending. We want you to stay!
• Salary: Group 5. Click here for the salary scale based on a full-time employment
• Bonus: 1 week salary when the hotel reaches the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Profit) level and you get a minimum total score of successful in your yearend evaluation
• 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);25 vacation days per year (pro rata).

• Attractive family and friends rates on overnight stays at Hotel Okura Amsterdam;
• Once a year staff discount in one of the restaurants (50%);

• Contribution to travel expenses from 10 km (one way);
• Study budget of €1.000;
• After obtaining the probationary period, you will receive an overnight stay with breakfast as a gift (2 people), so that you can experience the hotel as a guest!

What are we asking?

Of course, we are first and foremost interested in you and what we as an employer can do for you to provide a great workplace. Nevertheless we expect from you that:

• You possess a SVH or similar certification;
• You are creative and enjoy coming up with new ideas;
• You are flexible and an independent worker;
• You have relevant work experience (1 - 2 years) in a reputable learning company;
• You live in Amsterdam or surrounding area;
• You speak fluent English and/or Dutch (oral and written).
• As part of the pre-employment screening, you will be asked for a minimum of two positive references.
